Article-1:Moving Towards Excellence Of Healthcare Through Accreditation Of Hospitals

ABSTRACT

Patient considers health-care as a basic human need and right and he is interested not only in the availability of care, but in the QUALITY as well. Quality of medical care denotes the degree of excellence of medical care delivered. Quality of care INVOLVES TWO BASIC CONCEPTS quality of Technical Care, dealing with adequacy of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and Quality of Art of Care related to the perception of the consumers and behavior of the provider in delivering the care. The whole process of Quality and Accreditation evolves around Patient Safety.


Accreditation is a system of external peer review for determining compliance with a set of standards concerned with health care delivery system. Hospital accreditation is a “Voluntary Process” for the introduction of formal Quality Assurance System in which hospitals invite survey by the commission, assisted by “Accreditation Guide”. Accreditation sets a platform for a professional & national recognition.


The article deals briefly deals with the Process of Quality management in a hospital there by moving towards providing excellence of health care through Accreditation.
