An introduction

Academy of Hospital Administration (AHA) is an autonomous professional organization consisting of highly qualified and experienced Experts and faculty in hospital & health systems operations management, public health and multispecialty facilities planning & architectural designing doyens, Quality management in health care delivery systems (NABH, NQAS & NABL) experts, public health strategists etc. AHA has a large panel of academia, experts in Bio-Medical Engineers, Health IT professionals, HTA, Telemedicine, Medical & Wellness tourism, Bio-Medical Waste Management, Lean & Six Sigma, and other allied fields in health related domains.

AHA was established in 1987 under Societies Registration Act, 1860 at AIIMS, New Delhi and later moved to its own campus to AHA House, Sector 62, NOIDA (UP). AHA also exempted from IT Act 12-A & 80-G.

In 1984, at Department of Hospital Administration,  All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, a group of highly dedicated visionaries, health systems academia decided to form an organization, which could carry out health system management development, training, conduct post graduate courses, professional consultancy, research and for exchange of knowledge conduct  national & international conferences, be think tank, act as an association of hospital, health systems and allied disciplines professionals. Also be a resource and advisory body to Ministry of Health & Family Welfare Central and State Governments on all matters pertaining to Hospital & Health Systems planning, policy making and operational management. This led to birth of first and the only ‘Academy of Hospital Administration’ in India in 1987.

Aims & Objectives

  • To promote awareness of health care among all sections of the Indian people.
  • To promote awareness among functionaries involved in Health and Hospital Management.

  • To promote research in the field of Health and Hospital Management. in order to   improve the  efficiency of Health Care delivery Systems.

  • To promote the development of high quality hospital services and community health care.

  • To promote a forum for the exchange of ideas and information among   health and hospital planners, academicians, administrators, various statutory bodies and the general public for the improvement of Hospital and Health Care delivery Systems.

  • To develop norms and standards for accreditation of the Health Care Organization and adopt means of evaluation of such institutions, so as to improve the quality of health care in the community.

  • To provide opportunities for training and research in all aspects of Hospital Services Health Care Delivery System and Health Care Administration.

  • To update the knowledge and skill of the Health & Hospital Administrators and other personnel involved in  the management of   health care organization through continuous education and research.

  • To promote   and   grant recognition to research in the fields of Health and Hospital Management and to grant awards, scholarship and assistance in other suitable forms to meritorious individuals and institutions.

  • To act as Advisory /Consultative Body, in the best interest of community and country, to Central and State Governments, Public Sector Undertakings, Health Care Delivery Organization, Public Health & Health System Development, Teaching and Training Organization and any other Health related allied organization, when need so arises or services are asked for.

  • To provide Health Care Advocacy for the benefit of health system management and to endeavor to become a national advisory body for union and state governments.

  • To publish text books and periodic monographs on current and futuristic trends in health and hospital management.

  • To help in preparation of SOPs, Manuals, Literature and Books on Health Care Management, Quality & Accreditation, Health Care Technology, Health Care Industry related subjects, Text Books for Health Management Courses for benefit of the Students & Faculty, Hospital and Health Care Organizations and Academic Institutions.

  • To undertake Professional Consultancy in the field of  Health System Management,   Quality & Accreditation, Health Technology Assessment, Medical Tourism, Disaster Management, Health Care Delivery Organization, Public Health Facilities & Services for overall  improvement of  the facilities.

  • To conduct inter hospital/ Institution awards competition on various parameters to bring competitiveness for improving healthcare quality & training.

  • To recognize and felicitate the individuals who have made exceptional and significant contributions in the field of Health and Hospital Management in general and to the Academy in particular.

Mission

To develop and maintain hospital & healthcare planning & designing parameters, quality training, consultancy and research activities in health and hospital system through active involvement of healthcare organizers and providers, in order to attain a leading role in continuously improving the performance of health care systems in the country.

Quality and policy

Academy of Hospital Administration is committed to serving the community and all the stake holders, by providing leadership, consultancy, training, research and promotion of knowledge in all fields related with health care and hospital management.

We will achieve this aim by continually raising the capability of our faculty & associates, by developing integrated training modules, by organizing brain storming seminars, and pursuing for continual improvement in the effectiveness of our management and service deliverance system.

Memorandum of Association [MoA]

Memorandum

The committee for amendments in Memorandum of Association [MoA], appointed by AGBM held on 13th Nov. 2016 submitted its report to Board of Executive prior to AGBM. The same was circulated to BoE members for their observations/comments. The comments received were communicated to the committee.

The final version of amended Memorandum was presented by Prof (Dr) Dayakar Thota – Member of MoA committee during the AGBM. 

The house appreciated the untiring efforts of MoA committee who had to go through lot of deliberations, discussions, presentations and meetings at AHA HQ in order to complete the same within stipulated time.

AGBM Decision: The revised MoA was approved to be adopted by voice vote without any comments/observations.  Further action to submit the Memorandum and get the academy registered in UP State shall be taken by HQs.
