ABSTRACT

Antibiotic resistance is a growing concern globally, and India is one of biggest culprits for it. Irrational use of antibiotics and rampant use of irrational combinations have made drug resistance a reality in India. This article is an effort to find some facts around antibiotic misuse and the initiatives taken by few of the corporates, which are worth emulating as hospital managers in our workplaces. Our effort here is to highlight and share some of the key learning shared by MSD (a leading pharmaceutical company) and some of the corporate tertiary care Hospitals, such as the Fortis Group in public forums in FY 12 & 13. We are making efforts to get the stakeholders to formally share their experience in our forthcoming edition/s so that the readers and hospital administrators are benefited by their experience.
