Dr. Yashpal Sharma is at present working as Director (Coordination), New Govt. Medical Colleges, Nursing & Paramedical Colleges, J&K. Provided leadership for one year as Project Director, 02 AIIMS & 05 New Government Medical Colleges, J&K and four years to Jammu & Kashmir Medical Supplies Corporation Limited and serving as Managing Director, J&K Medical Supplies Corporation Limited. Prior to this, worked as Mission Director, National Health Mission (flagship programme), J&K (5 years), “Officer on Special Duty” to Minister for Health J&K, Medical Superintendent at Shri. Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence (1yr.) and Shree Maharaja Gulab Singh Hospital (4yrs.); Dy. Medical Superintendent Govt. Medical College Jammu (3yrs) and District Hospital Udhampur (2yrs). Well known in the field of Hospital Administration, he has more than three decades of varied experience behind him. Passed his M.B.B.S from Govt. Medical College Jammu and was conferred with Masters Degree in Hospital Administration (MHA) from A.I.I.M.S, New Delhi. Awarded W.H.O fellowship in Health Economics at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand. He is Accredited Management Teacher (AMT) of All India Management Association, Delhi and also a NABH Assessor. An Alumni of AIIMS, New Delhi and Indian Institute of Management, Ahmadabad, he has been visiting faculty for training of Medical Superintendents and senior Medical Officers at Indian Institute of Coal Management, Ranchi and Administrative Training Institute, Nainital. Life member of many institutions at Delhi including Academy of Hospital Administration, Indian Hospital Administration, Indian Society of Hospital Waste Management & AIIMSONIANS. Member of Expert Committee of Central Pollution Control Board, Delhi. Has successfully completed various research projects of Central Pollution Control Board, Delhi like development of an ideal system for segregation of Hospital Waste at Govt. Medical College Jammu and Vivekananda Polyclinic, Lucknow; Prepared a Documentary film of 40 minutes duration on Hospital Waste Management; provided technical inputs in developing various websites for Health & Medical Education Department of J&K (www.jkhealth.org), Govt. Medical College & Associated Hospitals Jammu (www.gmcahjammu.org); PCPNDT J&K (www.pcpndtjk.org); National Health Mission J&K (www.jknhm.com); Jammu & Kashmir Medical Supplies corporation Private Limited(www.jkmsclbusiness.com); New Government Medical College (www.newgmcsjnk.com) and has written many Books & Manuals including Manual on Disaster Management 2001; Manual on Hospital Waste Management 2001, Fire manual 2002; Book on job functions of Health Care professionals 2002; Book on Hospital and Medical Gases 2002 and Handbook on Hospital Administration – Making a difference 2003; and a book on Hospital Administration: Principles and Practice -2013. Have many research publications in the field of Health & Hospital Administration to his credit. He has been instrumental in developing infrastructure for COVID management and procurement of machinery/equipments, logistics medicines etc. during the COVID pandemic.
